Welcome to the new Social Signal

Valentine's Day celebrates the power of relationships. We're celebrating with a Social Signal relaunch.

The relaunch of our site and business coincides with the explosion of interest in social media. Business leaders and nonprofit communicators are asking how social media can support marketing, collaboration and innovation. Public officials and public citizens want to know how social media creates new opportunities for communities and conversation, on- and offline.

We're here to answer those questions.  The new look, features and content on our web site give you immediate access to our latest and best thinking about social media marketing and online collaboration, plus the tools and techniques you need to get started. For businesses and organizations that want strategy, development and community management solutions, we offer a clearly defined and proven suite of social media services, led by the Concept Jam.

The centrepiece of our new site is Dear SoSi, which answers the social media questions asked by leaders, marketers and communicators, community managers and community members. Each Dear SoSi answer features a summary of our top insights, plus key resources from the Social Signal blog. We'll be adding more answers all the time -- and we hope you'll post your own questions for SoSi.

The changes you see on our web site reflect the evolution of our social media thinking, services and team. When Social Signal launched in 2005 as a web company focused exclusively on online community projects, the term "social media" had yet to be coined.  Our approach to building blogs, social networks and online communities has matured alongside and in relationship to the exploding interest in social media. We've discovered how businesses and organizations can use social media to support their marketing and create customer value, and we've developed the strategies and services that help them realize those opportunities.

In this emergent field, we've been evolving too - and developing real clarity about what organizations need to succeed in this space, and how we can help deliver it. From the Concept Jam (an intensive process that where we work with you to create an innovative, winning social media concept) to the Social Media Strategic Roadmap (where we chart a comprehensive plan for executing your vision) to implementation (either supplementing your own team, or giving you a complete solution), we're readier than ever before to help.

Behind the scenes, we've renewed our own commitment to conversation and community. Conversation isn't just what we do; it's how we work. Our most powerful insights and implementations come from conversation and collaboration among pairs or teams of consultants, and our growing team gives us more ways of tapping into that power. We're moving to a new space that offers more room for the kinds of client, community and team gatherings that inspire creativity and enable meaningful conversations.

We hope you'll visit us in both of our new homes: in downtown Vancouver, and here at SocialSignal.com. Whether it's through our work on this site, our writing and appearances elsewhere, or professional engagements, we want to help you make the most of the tremendous potential of the social web.

Hi, Boyd, Kate and Phillip -

Really appreciate your kind words. I've been calling this a labour of love, and that's no hyperbole - so thanks so much for welcoming it into the world so warmly!
